The Breville SP0027237 is the best portafilter for most Bambino and Bambino Plus owners who need a straightforward replacement. For a bottomless option, KNODOS is a strong fit-first pick because it names both machines; choose among the other options only after confirming your exact model.

The original Bambino BES450 and Bambino Plus BES500 share a 54mm portafilter system, but aftermarket fit can still vary. A listing that says “54mm” or “for Breville” may name only selected Barista machines, so look for BES450 or BES500 in the compatibility details.

Which portafilter works best for each Bambino model?

The Breville SP0027237 is the simplest fit for both machines, while several bottomless options name one or both Bambino models. Use the model number on your machine to guide the choice, not the handle material or the 54mm label alone.

Our scores weigh stated fit, included basket details, design and how well each option suits Bambino owners. We checked the product details supplied for this guide; we haven't tested these portafilters on the machines.

The best portafilters for Breville Bambino and Bambino Plus

The picks below are ordered by score, with model-specific compatibility called out so you can narrow the choices before comparing handle styles or basket details.

1

Breville 54mm Portafilter SP0027237: Best for a genuine replacement

9.7/10Our score

• Genuine Breville replacement
• Fits Bambino BES450 and Bambino Plus BES500
• Stainless steel
• Works with compatible 54mm Breville baskets

This is the clearest choice when you want a replacement from Breville for either Bambino model. Its stated compatibility also covers several other 54mm Breville machines.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Names both Bambino models
• Genuine Breville part
• Stainless steel construction

Cons

• Not a bottomless design
• Not compatible with 58mm Breville machines

The Breville SP0027237 is the best portafilter for replacing a worn or damaged handle on either Bambino. Breville names both the Bambino BES450 and Bambino Plus BES500, along with several other 54mm machines.

Its stainless steel build and standard design make it the natural choice if you want the type of portafilter supplied for a compatible Breville machine. It also works with compatible 54mm Breville filter baskets, so you can keep using a suitable basket you already own.

This is a replacement, not a bottomless upgrade. If you're specifically looking to watch espresso flow from the basket, compare the open designs below and verify their model fit first.

Choose it for a genuine replacement that names both Bambino models. Breville says it isn't compatible with 58mm machines such as the Oracle or Dual Boiler series.

2

54mm Naked Bottomless Portafilter Compatible with Breville: Best for an included double-shot basket

9.7/10Our score

• Bottomless design
• Includes an 18–20g basket
• Names Breville Bambino compatibility
• Wood handle should stay dry

This bottomless option names the Bambino and includes an 18–20g basket. Its compatibility details do not separately name the Bambino Plus, so confirm fit for BES500 before choosing it.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Bambino is named as compatible
• Basket included
• Handle is secured to the portafilter head

Cons

• Bambino Plus fit is not separately confirmed
• Wood handle should not go in the dishwasher

LILQ's bottomless design and included 18–20g basket make it a candidate for original Bambino owners who want to observe extraction. Its compatibility details name the Breville Bambino, but don't separately confirm the Bambino Plus BES500.

The handle is attached to the head, and LILQ says it doesn't unscrew. The wood handle needs to stay dry and shouldn't go in the dishwasher.

If the portafilter feels tight, LILQ recommends warming the silicone ring or gasket with a gentle flush before use. Confirm Bambino Plus fit directly before ordering if you own the BES500.

Choose it for a bottomless Bambino option with a basket included, after matching the machine model. For other parts that may need attention, compare Breville Bambino Plus replacement parts or Breville Bambino replacement parts.

3

Normcore 54mm Bottomless Portafilter: Best for an 18g basket and walnut handle

9.7/10Our score

• Bottomless design
• Includes an 18g basket
• Stainless steel and walnut handle
• Fits Breville and Sage Barista Express machines

Normcore includes an 18g basket and a walnut handle. Its compatibility title focuses on Barista Express machines, so check with the seller before using it on a Bambino or Bambino Plus.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• 18g basket included
• Walnut handle
• Open bottom shows espresso flow

Cons

• Bambino compatibility is not stated in the details

The Normcore 54mm bottomless portafilter combines an 18g basket with a walnut handle. Its product title focuses on Breville and Sage Barista Express machines, and the supplied compatibility details don't name either Bambino model.

A bottomless design leaves the underside of the basket open, making the flow visible as espresso pours. That can help you notice uneven flow, but it also means fit should be confirmed before you buy.

The included basket is 18g, and Normcore describes the handle as lightweight and textured. The separate option with explicit Bambino Plus compatibility appears later in this list.

Choose this model if Normcore confirms it fits your exact Bambino. Don't assume that fit from the 54mm size alone.

4

54mm Bottomless Portafilter for Breville Espresso Machines: Best for a removable handle

9.4/10Our score

• Bottomless design
• Includes an 18–20g basket
• Names Bambino Plus BES500
• Detachable handle and removable basket

VOURMIO names the Bambino Plus BES500 and includes a removable basket. The handle also detaches for deeper cleaning, though the original Bambino is not among the named models.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Bambino Plus is named
• Basket lifts out separately
• Handle detaches

Cons

• Original Bambino fit is not named
• Not for 58mm or unlisted machines

VOURMIO specifically names the Bambino Plus BES500 and includes an 18–20g stainless steel basket. Its compatibility list doesn't name the original Bambino, so owners of the BES450 should check before ordering.

The basket lifts out separately for rinsing, and the threaded handle can be removed for deeper cleaning or replacement. Its open bottom shows the espresso flow while a shot is developing.

VOURMIO also says a bottomless design can reveal spraying or uneven flow. Those signs can prompt you to check the grind, dose, distribution and tamp, but they don't guarantee a particular result in the cup.

Choose it for a Bambino Plus and a removable handle. Skip it if you're buying for the original Bambino without confirmation.

5

54mm Bottomless Portafilter Breville Compatible: Best for a rosewood handle

8.9/10Our score

• Bottomless design
• Includes an 18–21g basket
• Names Bambino and Bambino Plus
• Rosewood handle

KNODOS names both Bambino models and includes an 18–21g basket. It also says the basket can work with 54mm baskets from brands such as IMS and VST.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Both Bambino models are named
• Basket included
• Rosewood handle

Cons

• Avoid overfilling the basket, which can prevent a proper fit

KNODOS names both the Bambino BES450 and Bambino Plus BES500, and includes an 18–21g basket. Among the bottomless picks here, that makes its stated compatibility especially useful for shoppers comparing both compact models.

The rosewood handle gives it a different look from the standard Breville part. The open bottom lets you watch the shot, and KNODOS says the basket is compatible with 54mm baskets from brands such as IMS and VST.

Pay attention to the basket dose: KNODOS cautions that overfilling can stop the portafilter from fitting the group head. Choose a dose that leaves enough room for the basket and machine.

Choose it for a bottomless option that names both Bambino versions and includes a basket. If your main interest is a bottomless style for the Plus, our guide to the best Breville Bambino Plus bottomless portafilter covers that narrower choice.

6

Espresso Portafilter 54mm Double Spout Compatible with: Best for splitting a shot between 2 cups

8.7/10Our score

• Double-spout design
• Includes a stainless steel basket
• Names Bambino Plus BES500
• 304 stainless steel

The two spouts direct espresso into 2 cups, and the compatibility details specifically name the Bambino Plus BES500. They do not confirm the original Bambino.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Two spouts
• Basket included
• Bambino Plus named

Cons

• Original Bambino fit is not stated
• Handle is ABS rather than wood

Metacrafts uses a double-spout design that can direct espresso into 2 cups. Its compatibility details name the Bambino Plus BES500, but don't specifically confirm the original Bambino BES450.

The stainless steel basket is included, and the handle is ABS. The main tradeoff is that you won't see the extraction from below as you would with a bottomless portafilter.

That makes this pick more suitable for someone who values splitting a shot over watching the flow. Check that the model number matches your machine before ordering, especially if you own the original Bambino.

Choose it for serving 2 cups from one pull on a confirmed Bambino Plus. For another machine part, our guide to the best replacement water tank for Breville Bambino and Bambino Plus can help you check model fit.

7

Normcore 54mm Bottomless Portafilter with 18g Precision: Best for the Bambino Plus with a precision basket

8.4/10Our score

• Bottomless design
• Includes an 18g precision basket
• Names Bambino Plus BES500
• Walnut handle

This Normcore model specifically names the Bambino Plus BES500 and pairs its bottomless head with an 18g precision basket. Its listed compatibility does not include the original Bambino.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Bambino Plus compatibility is named
• 18g precision basket included
• Walnut handle

Cons

• Original Bambino compatibility is not stated

This Normcore model specifically names the Bambino Plus BES500 and includes an 18g precision basket. The compatibility details don't name the original Bambino, so keep that distinction in mind if you're comparing both versions.

Its bottomless design exposes the espresso flow, while the walnut handle adds a different grip and finish from the standard replacement. Normcore describes its basket as double-layer stainless steel.

Don't confuse it with the other Normcore option in this guide. This one names the Bambino Plus directly, while the other does not confirm either Bambino model in its supplied compatibility details.

Choose this one for a Bambino Plus and an included 18g precision basket. Confirm fit if you own the BES450.

8

CREMA 54mm Bottomless Portafilter for Breville: Best for a walnut handle and double-shot basket

8.2/10Our score

• Bottomless design
• Includes a non-pressurized double-shot basket
• 304 stainless steel and walnut
• Confirm Bambino fit before ordering

CREMA includes a non-pressurized double-shot basket and a walnut handle. Its named compatibility focuses on Barista machines, so confirm fit for either Bambino model before buying.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Double-shot basket included
• Walnut handle
• Stainless steel body

Cons

• Bambino and Bambino Plus are not specifically named

CREMA includes a non-pressurized double-shot basket and uses a walnut handle with a stainless steel body. Its compatibility details name Barista Express, Express Impress, Pro and Touch models, but don't specifically name either Bambino.

That makes this a possible choice only after you verify fit for your exact machine. The open bottom suits someone who wants to watch the flow, and the included basket means you don't need to source a separate double-shot basket if it fits.

Choose it for the walnut finish and double-shot basket after confirming BES450 or BES500 compatibility. Don't rely on the general 54mm description as the only fit check.

9

IKAPE 54mm Bottomless Naked Portafilter for Breville: Best for named Barista Express models

7.4/10Our score

• Bottomless design
• Includes an 18g basket
• Names Barista BES870 and BES880
• Not natively supported on Bambino Plus

IKAPE names Barista BES870 and BES880 models, but says it does not natively support the Bambino Plus. Because neither Bambino model is confirmed as a direct fit, this is not a safe Bambino choice.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• 18g basket included
• Names supported Barista models
• Stainless steel construction

Cons

• Bambino Plus is not natively supported
• Bambino compatibility is not confirmed

IKAPE names Breville Barista BES870 and BES880 models, but its compatibility details say the Bambino Plus isn't natively supported. It doesn't confirm a direct fit for the original Bambino either, so this is the least suitable choice for the two machines in this guide.

The bottomless design includes an 18g basket, and the head is stainless steel. IKAPE describes a silicone ring modification for the Bambino Plus, but that is different from a direct, native fit.

For a Bambino or Bambino Plus, choose an option that clearly names your model unless you have verified the modification and fit yourself. The genuine Breville replacement or a bottomless pick with explicit compatibility is a simpler match.

Choose IKAPE for a named Barista model, not as a direct Bambino replacement.

How do you check Bambino portafilter compatibility?

Check the model number and the design before you buy. The original Bambino is BES450, and the Bambino Plus is BES500; aftermarket options can support one without naming the other.

Start with these checks:

• Look for BES450 or BES500. A direct model number is stronger evidence than “54mm” by itself.
• Separate replacement from upgrade. The Breville SP0027237 is a standard replacement, while a bottomless portafilter has an open underside.
• Check the included basket. These picks range from 18g to 21g where a basket size is stated, and not every option gives the same details.
• Confirm any caveat. IKAPE says the Bambino Plus isn't natively supported, and several other options leave Bambino fit unconfirmed.

A part that fits one Breville 54mm machine may not fit every 54mm model. When compatibility is unclear, ask the seller to confirm your machine's model number before buying.

Should you choose a standard or bottomless portafilter?

Choose the standard Breville replacement if you want the clearest fit for both Bambino versions. Choose a bottomless design if watching the extraction flow is more useful to you than keeping the familiar spouts.

A bottomless portafilter can make uneven flow easier to see, but it doesn't by itself fix grind, dose or tamp problems. A double-spout option may suit you better if you often split a shot between 2 cups.

Which portafilter should you choose for your Bambino?

Choose the Breville SP0027237 for a genuine replacement that names both the Bambino BES450 and Bambino Plus BES500. Choose the KNODOS bottomless model if you want an open design with compatibility stated for both machines.

For the Bambino Plus, VOURMIO and the 18g Normcore precision option also name BES500, with different handle and cleaning details. For the original Bambino, stick to a model that names BES450 or get confirmation before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Breville Bambino and Bambino Plus portafilters the same size?

Both machines use Breville's 54mm system, but size alone doesn't guarantee that an aftermarket portafilter fits. Check the exact machine model in the compatibility details.

The genuine Breville SP0027237 names both the Bambino BES450 and Bambino Plus BES500.

What is the safest replacement portafilter for both Bambino models?

The Breville SP0027237 is the clearest fit for both because it names the Bambino BES450 and Bambino Plus BES500. Choose it when you want a standard replacement.

If you want a bottomless portafilter, confirm that the exact BES450 or BES500 model is supported before ordering.

Can a bottomless portafilter fit the Bambino Plus?

Yes, some 54mm bottomless portafilters specifically name the Bambino Plus BES500. KNODOS, VOURMIO and one Normcore option name it in their compatibility details.

Other 54mm models may name only Barista machines or the original Bambino, so check the model numbers.

Does a bottomless portafilter come with a basket?

Several picks here include a basket, but the dose and type vary. The listed options include baskets from 18g to 21g, while some product names or details don't make the basket size clear.

Check the basket included with your chosen model and use a dose that fits your machine.

Why choose a double-spout portafilter instead?

A double-spout portafilter sends espresso into 2 cups at once, which can help when you split a drink. A bottomless model exposes the flow beneath the basket, which can help you spot uneven extraction.

Choose based on how you brew and whether you want to observe the shot.
